court cases have originated with the
presence of photographers filming for "real TV" shows ("Cops", "Real
Stories", etc.).
I think that "Cops" won their case but the second one concerning the medevac
footage was on "On Scene: Emergency Response". Not sure how that turned out. I
think it was the family of the victim who sued because the footage followed the
victim from accident scene, on board the evac ship and to the ER. I would guess
a simple signature on a release would have saved a lot of trouble.
If you notice on COPS I think the people whose faces are blurred out didnt sign
the release?

i remeber seeing the medevac
footage on "On Scene"-that was in 1990 and the victim was Ruth Shulman i remember her daughter Beth was driving-Beth wasn't injured badly but they put her in the helicopter too as a precaution

i followed the Shulman case with a lot of interest in 98 and when they showed footage of the rescue on NBC News or maybe it was Dateline they went one further and showed some footage that had not been seen in the original broadcast also i might add that in the original broadcast the late Dave Forman(the narrator) concludes by stating: "Once inside both patients will be further evaluated and moved into emergency surgery if need be. Thanks to the efforts of the crew of Mercy Air, the firefighters, medics and police who responded, patients' lives were saved." i also remember seeing a a brief, written epilogue "Laura's patient spent months in the hospital. She suffered severe back injuries. The others were all released much sooner." now i was fortunate to have not only the episode in question but they had made me a copy of the unedited tape and i watched it one night with my parents and saw how different it looked unedited and without the addition of a narrative voice-over
i don't think they invaded her privacy but i might be just my opinion
